New images of how a £13bn Defence Training College at St Athan in Wales will look have been revealed today.

Local people have been invited to view the detailed designs for the Ministry of Defence scheme at a series of exhibitions that started yesterday as part of the last stage of planning being undertaken by Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The 1000 acre site, which was granted initial planning approval in December, is due to be developed by a consortium of Sodexo and Qinetiq with opening planning for 2015.

However, the new government is yet to fully endorse the development, having said there is a strong case for it but that the project is under review.

Mike Grimmel, director of planning and infrastructure at Metrix, says: “Given the level of interest shown by the public during the pre-planning consultation phase, we felt that local people would welcome an exhibition which showcased the latest designs. In addition to viewing the detailed project images, members of the public will be able to meet and talk to the individuals who are in charge of the designs and view a brand new computer animatedflythrough of the DTC campus.”
